Located in Munich, one of the hotspots for intellectual property in Europe, df-mp is one of Germany’s top IP law firms, with strong biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemistry patent groups. Dr. Erin Becker is a European Patent Attorney and is originally from Vancouver. She completed her B.Sc. and Ph.D. at UBC. Her Ph.D. research was done at the Biomedical Research Centre and focused on the function of CD34 and CD43 on hematopoietic cells. Dr. Becker moved to Germany in 2006 to be a post-doctoral researcher in stem cell research. She began working in intellectual property in 2009 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2015. Dr. Becker’s scientific background lies in immunology, hematology, cell biology and genetics. Dr. Becker is involved in patent drafting and prosecution concerning European patents. A main focus of her work is her involvement in opposition and appeal matters before the European Patent Office.

Sandra Pohlman is co-founder and partner at df-mp. She co-heads the firm’s large and diversified biotechnology and pharmaceuticals practice group. Ms. Pohlman has specialized in intellectual property in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields since 1992. Ms. Pohlman advises on all aspects of intellectual property in her field, with her particular focus in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, pharmaceutical agents and formulations, diagnostic assays and medical applications. A main part of her practice is oppositions and prosecution before the European Patent Office. Ms. Pohlman has been recommended for her expertise in patent prosecution and invalidity actions in the IAM Patent 1000 (2013-2108). Managing Intellectual Property magazine listed her as an IP Star and Top 250 Woman in IP for 2016-2018.
